really reinforces why you need a real estate agent representing you when you are buying a home. There are many issues that licensed real estate professionals are not allowed to talk about because of fair housing laws. However, professional agents have access to resources that they can share with buyers to help them make decisions or address concerns they have about a specific property. They are your resource, not just for finding that perfect home, but for finding a home inspector, insurance agent, pool company and more.

My hot button was pressed yet again after reading “Code crackdown another bad sign for home sellers” from Orlando Sentinel’s Thursday paper. There continues to be a lot of talk about signage on right of ways being considered “litter.” I agree that when signs are put up and left for extended periods of time, this poses a problem. However, real estate agents are simply asking for short periods of time, usually 3 – 4 hours, to host Open Houses. As an agent, I am trying to properly market homes for my clients in order to facilitate a sale. Seller’s need all the help they can get during this buyer’s market (a trend that, by all indications, is going to continue). I truly believe that “open house” signs should be exempt from this code crackdown. However, I also agree that if the sign is not picked up by 6pm, code enforcement should have the right to take it.
